We can help you with pretty much any project(s) you have in mind, or suggest some that highlight techniques you desire to acquire. We will strive to be able to schedule one or several appointments at your convenience. Pre-requisite: None. This open studio is for you if you have previously taken one of our classes (chainmail, wire working, etc) and need some extra time to complete your projects. You may use the studio tools and enjoy the company of other students that also take advantage of the open studio time. An instructor will be available to provide some assistance during at least some portion of the open studio time. Last minute drop-ins are welcome on a space available basis! CB-OS1: Chainmail-Specific Open StudioDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: All. Pre-requisite: None. This open studio is for you if you have previously taken one of our chainmail classes and need some extra time to complete your projects. OB-BC1: Jewelry Making CircleDuration: varies.Level: All. Pre-requisite: None. Ready to spend some quality time in the company of fellow jewelry making enthusiasts? Let's have us our own little private party! In this casual and friendly atmosphere, we'll be working on varied individual projects, help each other out with know-how and creativity, and chat about whatever topic comes up! Feel free to bring some tasty treats to share. This circle is FREE, but please let me know that you would like to attend. Chainmail ClassesCB-101: Chainmail 101Duration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Novice. Pre-requisite: None. Learn about wire and its properties. Learn how basic the tools are that are required to make chainmail and the proper way to use them to open and close jump rings. Learn about the importance of chosing proper jump ring sizes for your chainmail creations. Ladies will make one or two pairs of earrings in this introductory class, and gents have the option of making a tie guard. We'll also discuss safety, ergonomics and studio rules. This class is a pre-requisite for all other chainmail classes. CB-SL1: Shaggy LoopsDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: CB-101. This weave is fluid, fun and extremely flexible. You can even add colorful beads for an elegant touch. The weave construction is basic, however more advanced students may choose to create a pair of long, delicate earrings by using tiny rings. CB-FL1: Single Flower BraceletDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: CB-101. This weave is easy and relatively quick to produce, and makes for a wonderful first project after the introductory class. This does not mean however that it's not a beauty to behold! CB-FL2: Double Flower NecklaceDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: CB-FL1. This necklace is an all-time-favorite. The beauty of the weave stems from how wonderfully the light is reflected by the overlapping and ever-changing angles of the rings. This piece is relatively quick to create and a must-have for your chainmail jewelry wardrobe. CB-QW1: Queen's Weave BraceletDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: CB-101. Learn the Queen's weave which is also known as the Box weave, and create a stunning Sterling Silver bracelet. CB-BZ1: Open Byzantine Weave BraceletDuration: 2 to 3 hoursLevel: Beginner Pre-requisite: CB-QW1. Learn the basic elements that constitute the ever so popular Byzantine weave and create a stunning Sterling Silver bracelet. This bracelet can be used as a charm bracelet. CB-BZ2: Byzantine Weave BraceletDuration: 2 to 3 hoursLevel: Beginner Pre-requisite: CB-QW1. Learn how to create a beautiful Sterling Silver bracelet in the age-old and popular Byzantine weave. We will be offering MANY other chainmail classes, covering a large variety of weaves.Wirework ClassesWB-BW1: Basic Wirework: Wire Working 101: The Simple LoopDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Novice. Pre-requisite: None. This class establishes the foundation you will need for all of your wire working projects. It is important to fully master the basic skills, so we will begin this class with an overview or tools and materials used in wire work. Next, we learn and practice the simple loop, and how to open and close loops and jump rings. Walk out with your very first creation, a stunning pair of (cluster) earrings featuring the beads of your choice. Should you want to repeat this class to get further practice, alternate project ideas can be explored. We'll also discuss safety, ergonomics and studio rules. This class is a pre-requisite for all wire working classes. WB-BW2: Basic Wirework: The Wrapped LoopDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1. Learn the wrapped loop and how to make bead links resulting in your very own beautiful necklace incorporating beads of your choice. WB-BW3: Basic Wirework: Briolette WrappingDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW2. Learn how to properly wrap the exquisite Briolette beads, and incorporate them in a piece of jewelry all your own. WB-WF3: Wrapped FramesDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. Wrapped frames make fantastic jewelry, either by themselves or when highlighting a favorite pendant or earring. In this class, learn how to create a wire frame and beautify it by wrapping small accent beads around the frame. WB-BW1: Branches of WireDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. If there were a contest for the most fun jewelry making technique, the creation of works incorporating twisted wire branching would certainly rank among the top choices! The technique is easy to learn and allows you to create stunning and whimsical pieces. Indeed the exploration of sculptural possibilities with branching wire is an addicting endeavor. WB-WE1: Flattened Wire Work EarringsDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. Another great class to start in wire working, as you learn to create beautiful wirework earrings. Learn to form flattened swirls, loops, triangles and other shapes as you let your imagination guide you. From simple to wild, this class will teach you the proper tools and techniques while allowing you to create earrings all your own. Whether you use wire alone or add beads or crystals you're sure to walk away with beautiful earrings. WB-RG1: Beginning Wire RingsDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. Learn how to make rings from precious metal wire. We'll start with simple wire-only rings, and then create simple rings with beads. Beaded rings are great for a last minute gift or to match any outfit. WB-SP1: Fun with spiralsDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. Spirals are easy to do and fun! Learn how to use this surprisingly versatile design element in a variety of projects. Did you know that you can use them to create interesting earring findings, bracelets and more? WB-SP2: Egyptian Spiral BraceletDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. Learn how to make the ever endearing Egyptian Spiral Bracelet. Amazing what you can create by just mastering the basic spiraling technique! WB-SP3: Spiral Wrap PendantsDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. It can be hard finding the right pendant to go with your necklace designs. However, creating your own beautiful pendants is easy once you learn this straightforward method for wrapping a bail and adding simple spirals. Adding small beads provide a classic finish. This technique can easily be adapted to earrings. WB-WI1: Make a set of wine glass identifiersDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Beginner. Pre-requisite: none. Make a set of stem glassware identifiers, which will allow your guests to find their glass again at a party. A selection of colorful beads and charms are available to complete this project (supplies not included in class fee). WB-IB1: Wirework Interchangeable BraceletDuration: 2 to 3 hours.Level: Intermediate. Pre-requisite: WB-BW1: Wire Working 101 or instructor's permission. Learn to create a wire bracelet core and add a focal area that bridges the top. Interchangeable, so you can make as many bridges as you'd like. Learn to flatten wire and add peen marks to increase depth and texture. Work with wire alone, or make bridges with beads for more color. This class is considered of intermediate level because the bracelet wire used is of much heavier gauge. Note: Depending on which workshop setup we will be able to provide, classes incorporating soldering, etc might be offered in the future in a group setting. Become creative with painting porcelain beads! The beads are available in multiple sizes and shapes. They are like a blank canvas that allow you to use mica pigment powders in an acrylic base to paint beads that are truly unique to you. Create trademark beads! Other "other" classes we will be offeringResin PendantsAbout our Supply ShopThe CziCzi Design Studio features a Supply Shop for our students. Think along the lines of a mini bead shop right there in the Studio! Students (as well as the general public during store hours) can purchase basic glass, lampwork and crystal beads, semi-precious stones and pearl, findings, tools, etc. The Supply Shop will be open for at least 30 minutes before the start of each class. We welcome your suggestions as what you consider must-have supplies and will grow our on-hand Supply Shop inventory over time.Classes F.A.Q.Here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions which include some of the Fine Print which governs the classes. "How do I register for a class?" Here is how to enroll in a class:
You may send someone else to class to take your place. If you send someone in your place, please ensure they meet the prerequisites for the class. As a courtesy, in the event that you cannot make it to class and cannot send someone in your place, please call us at 508.615.2288 as we would love to give someone else the opportunity to attend. "What if CziCzi Design needs to cancel a class?" Sometimes a class needs to be cancelled due to low enrollment or situations beyond our control (weather conditions, etc). In that case we will make every effort to inform students in a timely manner, and a refund will be issued. "What is included in the class fee? What about supplies?" Your fee includes instruction and use of tools in class. Students must purchase materials before or during class time, unless otherwise stated in class decriptions. There is time in class to purchase materials with the aid of the instructor, but purchasing supplies before class is highly encouraged to keep the class on track. The Supply Shop will be open at least 30 minutes before each class. Some classes have an additional kit fee associated. The kit fee is a required element of the class and parts cannot be brought or purchased separately. "Where can I park during class?" There is ample parking in the parking lot right next to the Sprinkler Factory building. Please do not park on the street. "I have never taken a class before. What classes are good for beginners?" "Chainmail 101" and the "Basic Wire Work" series are perfect for beginners. No knowledge of beading or jewelry work is required. These classes provide the basic skills a budding jewelry designer needs. "I am an instructor. Can I teach in your studio?" This is a definite possibility. Please contact us with your proposal. |
